DIRECTV includes
HDNet, HDNet Movies, ESPN
HD, and Discovery HD Theater in their
basic high def programming package. Both Dish and Direct
TV include HBO HD and
Showtime HD with their premium channel packages, along with an HD pay
per view channel. Only
DIRECTV offers Universal HD
(formerly Bravo HD) and adult pay per view high
definition programming on Spice HD. [Only Dish Network offers 10
exclusive Voom HD channels and TNT
HD, which shows NBA
basketball, and lots more in beautiful high definition.] You'll
have to add your own HDTV antenna in order to receive
free local over-the-air programs in high definition.

Existing DIRECTV
satellite customers
If you don't already have it, you'll need the multi-satellite
oval dish pictured at the top right of this page in order to
receive DIRECT HDTV programming. You'll also need either a DIRECTV HDTV receiver
(shown in next column) - or the DIRECTV HD DVR
if you wish to be able to RECORD HD programming. You'll also
need to
call DIRECTV customer service at 1-800-DIRECTV to add your DIRECTV
HD package.
